Eighteenth Annual Community Conference
"Integrating Mental and Physical Health"
Sunday, June 9, 2019
9:00am to 4:00pm
The mission of the Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education is to reduce the stigma of mental illness that has been a barrier for individuals, families, and communities receiving much-needed support. The institute aims to provide resources and hope to those that struggle with mental illness and to those who support them. The Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education strives to educate people on mental health issues through various outreach programs. This year will be the institutes' eighteenth annual community conference, and it will focus on "Integrating Mental and Physical Health." This conference would not be possible without the ongoing support of our donors, conference speakers, discussion leaders, and volunteers to whom we are deeply grateful.
After attending this conference, participants will be able to:
(1) Define the prevalence of some of the most common mental and physical health disorders in the U.S.
(2) Define at least 3 factors which can increase an individual’s risk of developing a mental and/or physical health problem.
(3) Describe at least 3 benefits to an integrated care approach to our health.
(4) Identify at least one local resource for accessing integrated care.
(5) Identify at least one self-help strategy or resource that can improve our overall health.
This conference offers 5 CEUs for social workers and counselors and 5.25 IAODAPCA CEUs. This site outlines information about Continuing Education Credit, including the full program content for each session. To obtain a Continuing Education Certificate, participants must attend the entire conference; partial credit is not awarded for partial attendance. At the end of the conference, attendees earning CEUs are required to sign-out and turn-in a completed evaluation. Continuing Education Certificates will be distributed at the end of the conference.
